Overview :: How it Works :: Client Examples
Situation
Subject experts with no training experience are called upon to train interested parties in practical skills and methods
Challenge
Being an expert in one's field does not mean that one has the pedagogical skills necessary to pass on one's expertise to others
Method

  • Auditing of experts to select those with potential to become trainers
  • Obliging the experts to put themselves into the 'shoes' of the non-expert and to see the learning process from their perspective
  • To coach the experts in the pedagogical techniques of key learning objectives, simplification, facilitation of small groups, use of practical case studies, summarising and illustration through well chosen examples
  • Use of video for post-seminar critique
Results

  • Time and money are not wasted on experts who do not have potential to become trainers
  • Training sessions run by experts become dynamic and practical learning environments
